The monkeys are back in their cage, all the paint seems to have dried, and at long last, everything is in its right place. Hard to believe, but it’s only been a few short months since I last revamped the site. Not satisfied with the previous set up, I made the decision last week to re-tool; six days of CSS voodoo and HTML magic later, I’ve got something to show for it.

Welcome to the 134.5th revision of The Horrible Fanfare.

In what is either an affirmation of my inflated ego, or a very smart career move, I’ve placed some links to my recent work on the newly-minted splash page. Everything links to an appropriate section, where you can find more detailed and abundant listings, which will be kept updated as often as possible. The same goes for photos, where the old gallery system has made its triumphant return.

This isn’t a particularly huge update, but more of a pleasant face-lift. Just act as if The Fanfare’s gotten some botox, minus all the facial freezing and awkward social reactions. All the things you know and love are the same, just organized a little better, and easier on the eyes. Like a digital Harrison Ford. Or something.

Finally, the 134.5th revision means that I’ll be hosting every episode of the Not So Horrible Podcast locally again, which is good news for both you, and us. Not only will things (hopefully) load a little bit faster, but iTunes support is finally on its way too. Exciting times indeed!

So, take a look around, see what’s new, and most importantly, enjoy!

Welcome to The Horrible Fanfare!

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the new and improved Horrible Fanfare!

After what seems like weeks of revisions, changes, designs and disasters, the newest incarnation of The Horrible Fanfare has finally gone live. For anyone that followed the old blog, my old Google-bound home had been in need of a refresh for quite some time now. Now, after about a month’s worth of CSS, HTML, PHP and interface design, The Horrible Fanfare has a new home, thanks to the magic of WordPress’ content management system. It’s my hope that the changes will not only make the site easier for readers to navigate, but help me maintain my sanity while running it as well!

First and foremost, things are organized a little differently than before. There’s now a handy navigation bar below the header at the top of the page that allows easy access to all the site’s pages and functions. One of the original limitations of my Blogger account was the inability to easily create pages beyond the main blog. Yet, with my new design, it’s now obvious that there’s a great deal more to do. Notably, the addition of a photo gallery, and a nice archive of all my previously published articles, should turn The Horrible Fanfare into more than just a personal blog. Instead, it’s become a window into my life, as both a journalist and photographer.

While things are more or less running smoothly, there’s bound to be some growing pains; bear with me while I try and sort things out! That being said, feel free to stress test every inch of the new design – everything from the archives, to the search function found at the bottom of each page. And please, let me know if you encounter any issues!

Here’s hoping you enjoy revision 3.0 of the site as much as I do; just keep the fanfare to a minimum.
